Artist |
Renoir, Pierre-Auguste |
Except for this eager and wide–eyed girl, the canvas is a hubbub of movement and implied sound.Renoir’s flashing brush strokes convey the dazzle of Paris life as it impresses the girl. In the boldest and simplest manner he weaves the picture into a unity through such devices as the repeat of the front contours of the girl’s jacket in the curve of the partition behind her, and in the variation of this line in her back . The colour is held down in general value and intensity, but it is altogetherRenoiresque in its rich invention. |
